Running my own creative business, The Dorothy Days, is just one part of what I do. Alongside designing and making knitwear, I also run the Dorset Team, a community of Dorset makers and creatives and run craft fair events. It is a real joy and I love getting to meet new people who share a passion for handmade and creative products and being able to showcase their work through our events.
The Dorset Team: A Community of Creatives
The Dorset Team originally started as a community for Etsy sellers in Dorset, and the name "team" comes from Etsy's term for their seller groups. Over the years, we’ve been lucky enough to be featured by Etsy on multiple occasions, and I’ve even attended Etsy community summits around the world where I have spoken about our Dorset Team community. During the lockdowns, we had so much interest from other non-Etsy creatives that we decided to expand the team to include all local makers, allowing our community and events to grow even further.
Being predominately an Etsy community, our makers and creatives mostly sell online. I wanted the Dorset Team events to be a way in which they could connect with local customers and bring their products to an in-person audience.
The events are curated so we have a real mixture of different crafts represented and have a diverse range of high-quality, handmade goods at the event. It is the perfect place to come to find something you won't find on the highstreet.
